St. Nicholas Day – Friday, December 6

This Friday, we will celebrate the spirit of giving that is the soul of St. Nicholas Day. For centuries, St. Nicholas has been remembered and revered for dedicating his life to helping the poor, sick, and suffering. He was well-known for his generosity to those in need and, legend tells us, for his love of students.

On Thursday, students will leave their shoes in the hallways in hopes of finding small treats there Friday morning. This charming custom is said to have originated when St. Nicholas threw a bag of gold coins through an open window and it landed on shoes that had been drying by the fire.

December Hot Lunch

Due to December being a short school month, we will only have one hot lunch this month. Next Tuesday, December 10, we will serve pasta with tomato sauce or buttered pasta with a turkey meatball, tossed salad, and whole wheat bread. Gluten-free meals are available by special order only, and a vegetarian salad plate is, as always, offered as an alternative. Lunch slips were distributed in classes today, but for your convenience, you can download a form by clicking here.

Hot lunch order forms are due by 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 6. Please have your slips in by then to avoid the late fee and to ensure that Emily has an accurate head count to purchase enough food for all — this is especially important if you are planning to select the gluten-free option.

Order Silver Graphics Online!

Our student artwork has been posted to an online gallery that is secure and password protected. You and your family and friends may go online and place orders for products made from your student’s artwork. This is a great option for anyone who missed the ordering deadline or for those who would like to add to their order.

All products will be shipped directly to the address you specify, so there will be a shipping charge involved. Our school will continue to profit from any online orders placed through our school gallery. Visit the Silver Graphics website to view detailed photos and information on their products.

School Store News

Announcing Evening Shopping Hours:

Monday, December 9, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Please join us for wine and cheese, coffee and sweets, and a chance to win door prizes while leisurely shopping our overflowing shelves. This is perfect for grandparents, parents, and friends who cannot come in during regular store hours (no children, please). For your ease and convenience, you can pre-select items by filling out a “wish list” in the School Store that relatives and friends can use as a guide for their shopping. Kindly RSVP to Meredith Hansen by email or at (330) 725-4909 by Thursday, December 5. As it stands now, we may not have sufficient interest to go forward with the event, so please RSVP if you are interested.

We have many new items you may find helpful in the coming days — beeswax candles for your Holiday table, wine bags, travel games, games and crafts for your guests, seasonal cards, and more. Some of these items are on our sale tables! Also new in the store are hand-cast pewter figures, hand-knit hats, clay fairy sculptures, and multi-point needle felting kits.
