Ways To Make a Difference During the Holidays

SGWS parent Kimberly Castner is helping the homeless in Akron by passing out needed items a few weekends a month. She is asking for donations of gently used backpacks and sweatshirts, as well as socks and pre-packaged nonperishable food items such as granola bars. All donations can be placed in the bin marked Help Akron in the School Store.

Once again this year, SGWS is collecting new toys for the Copley Police Department’s Share-A-Christmas program.  If you’re able, please place new, unwrapped toys in the collection box marked Share-A-Christmas in the School Store.

Silver Graphics Orders Arriving This Week

Silver Graphics orders will be available for pick-up on Friday, December 13, in the afternoon. Items can be picked up from the tables in the hallway between the main office and Amy Hecky’s office. Items will be available for pick-up until the morning of Friday, December 20; after that, they will be put away until after the holiday break.

If you have any questions, please email Tyra Scott or Amy Erickson.

School Store News: Shopping with the Elves!

elf    The School Store is pleased to offer something new and fun for this holiday season: Shopping with the Elves! On December 17-19, students will have the opportunity to experience the joy of giving gifts they have personally selected from our stock of Waldorf-inspired items from quality vendors.

As parents, you will sign the Shopping Lists being sent home with students today, authorizing them to spend a specific amount. Our friendly volunteer Elves will escort your child to the store after school, either at pick-up time or during Aftercare, on the day of your choosing. Parents permitting their children to shop immediately after school should plan to park and then retrieve their children from the store, allowing 15 minutes for children to shop. Children will be taken to Aftercare immediately after their shopping if no one is present to pick them up when their shopping is complete. We will be sure that children are either with an Elf, a parent, or in Aftercare at all times.

To learn more about this delightful opportunity, please review the material being sent home with your child or click here to download a brochure with details and gift ideas. Click here to download the shopping authorization form (this will also be sent home with students, as noted, but we all know that what is sent home with students sometimes doesn’t reach its intended destination!).

Paperwhite Sale

paperwhitesPaperwhites are beginning to bloom, and the fragrance in the greenhouse is exquisite! Three-bulb pots are available for $9.00 each. Order forms can be found by the parent mailboxes … purchase yours today!

Lost and Found Haul-Away

Unclaimed items in our lost and found will be donated to local charities over the holiday break. For the next two weeks, the lost and found cart will be in the foyer to facilitate easy access. If you or your child are missing items, please take a moment to look for what you have lost.

SGWS Ski Club Is Back!
